Madrichim Program for 9th-12th Graders

Apply Here

Hey, 9th–12th graders! Do you love working with young children? Are you interested in earning community service hours? Want to participate in another teen program at a discount? Our Volunteer Madrichim Program is here for you!

Our Madrichim Program is a fantastic way to develop leadership skills, earn community service hours and stay involved with Temple Kol Emeth! Madrichim serve as teacher’s assistants and role models for students in grades K–7 on Sunday mornings (virtually or in person), Tuesday afternoons (virtually or in person) and Wednesday afternoons (virtually) during Religious School.

WHAT IS IT EXACTLY?

The term madrichim comes from the Hebrew word derekh, meaning "the way". Madrichim (plural form) literally show our students the way of how to live Jewishly. They support our Religious School by serving as teaching assistants in the classroom, small groups, or working in other school capacities. Our madrichim program offers 9th-12th grade teens the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills.

You will have the amazing opportunity to help our younger students grow and develop Jewishly by:

•  Leading small group discussions and lessons

•  Assisting children who need academic, social or emotional support

•  Helping to keep the classroom running smoothly by collecting tzedakah, prepping art projects, preparing snacks and more!

•  Serving as a positive Jewish role model, showing our students just how much fun and meaning there is in Jewish learning and life!

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT TO DO?

The Madrichim Program is not just a way to help our students; it is also an opportunity for teens to develop communication, organizational and teaching skills. All madrichim are required to attend:

·    Orientation on Sunday, August 13 (tentatively set for 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.)

·    Madrichim professional development workshops -ongoing

These workshops will provide important training on working in a classroom, teaching students, and even about interpersonal communication. This experience will look great on a resume or college application!

 IS THIS A PAID POSITION?

Our Madrichim program is a volunteer program and students will receive community service credit.
