Sunshine School
Sunshine School
The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta operates their NAEYC-Accredited Preschool, The Sunshine School at Temple Kol Emeth. The Sunshine School features half and full day-day programs for children ages one year to pre-K. Our preschoolers are immersed in a warm, nurturing educational environment infused with the richness of Jewish values and customs.
The Sunshine School also has the honor of being the fourth preschool in Georgia to earn three stars (highest level) from Bright From the Start's Quality Rated program, rating the level of quality in education programs.
Our Philosophy
We enrich the lives of young children and their families by providing a creative and warm community with a variety of opportunities for learning, growth, curiosity and exploration. Our preschools are inspired by the principles of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education and guided by Jewish values and culture. We view children as competent individuals and we encourage their self-expression and creative thinking. We honor the collaboration between children, families and educators for a creative learning environment. Our preschool builds a strong community through parent education, family programs, social programs and holiday celebrations.

Our Curriculum
Our progressive secular curriculum is based on four traditional areas of child development: social relations, literacy, cognition and movement. We blend a Reggio Emilia-inspired curriculum with nationally acclaimed programs such as Mathematics Their Way, Zoo Phonics, and Handwriting Without Tears, and our own programs including Ready, Set, Go Kindergarten, and Sensational Science.
