Inclusivity and Accessibility: Welcoming to all
TKE continues to work to make our services and programs accessible and inviting to everyone who desires to be here. As we approach the High Holy Days, we make every effort to provide a space that is welcoming to all.
Guests with Sensory Processing Impairments
For Nursing Mothers
For these sacred days, TKE is designating a comfortable nursing room with your well-being in mind. This space offers a quiet environment, perfect for nursing or expressing milk. Equipped with soft seating, a changing station, abundant outlets, and a small refrigerator for storing milk, the room strives to be a stress-free experience. Our service livestream will be quietly available so you can continue to engage with the service while you care for your little one. If you have any questions or specific requests or needs, please contact Cindy Livingston.
Guests with Sensory Processing impairments
For these sacred days, TKE can provide a variety of tactile toys and headphones to aid in managing what can be a sensory overloading experience. Please look for signage or ask an usher to be directed to the appropriate location for these items. If you have any questions or specific needs, please contact Cindy Livingston.
A Space for a Breather
For these sacred days, TKE is using our chapel as a Quiet Room. This tranquil space is created to provide a calming environment for individuals with sensory processing needs or those needing a quiet respite. This room features soft lighting, comfortable seating, and a variety of sensory tools including tactile toys, all aimed at promoting relaxation and focus. If you have any questions or specific needs, please contact Cindy Livingston.
Amen Alcove - for our youngest participants
Temple Kol Emeth has always had a tradition of welcoming and encouraging our youngest to be in our services; this year we are working to go above and beyond. We hope that that by helping your child feel welcomed and loved, you will be able to feel more at ease and more personally present.
To help you stay for the main morning service, we are designating a section of our Social Hall as our "Amen Alcove," where your child can take a break to read a PJ Library book, build with foam blocks, and play with other tots. The Social Hall is open to the Sanctuary, so you can stay connected to the service. Children in this area require a parent/guardian to be present as it will not be staffed.
