Friday evenings: the place to be is at tke

Friday evenings are where our community comes alive. Music is our superpower—a talented cadre of volunteer musicians brings spirit, joy, and soul to every service. Whether you're singing along or just soaking it in, you'll feel the energy of a community that loves to welcome Shabbat together.

Shabbat Service Times

First Fridays: 8:00pm
All other Fridays: 6:30pm (Pre-service nosh begins at 6:00pm)

Come early for our 6:30pm services and enjoy a Shabbat nosh at 6:00pm - a perfect time to grab a name tag, schmooze, meet friends old and new, and grab a light snack before services.

After most services, stick around for our Shabbat oneg. This isn't just cookies and coffee (though we have those too)—it's where real relationships are built, where you'll get to know people, and where our community becomes more than just faces in the pews.

an intergenerational space for everyone

We're working hard to ensure our services are welcome to people of all ages. To help the children of our congregation welcome Shabbat with their families in our sanctuary, we have a few tools to help them acclimate:

For our youngest (ages 0-4): Amen Alley offers a small space for quiet play right in the sanctuary, so little ones can hear our sacred melodies under the watchful care of their grown-ups.

For older kids: Check out our busy bags filled with fidgets and silent activities that help our school-aged kids stay engaged with the service in our regular seating.

Children's programming: During Mi Shebeirach through Mourner's Kaddish, we offer activities outside the sanctuary for children. This gives families with active kids a place to go while creating a more solemn environment for those in our community who are mourning or in need of healing.

What makes friday nights so special

Music That Moves You From traditional melodies to contemporary favorites, our services are filled with song. Throughout the year, you'll experience:

  • Our volunteer adult choir leading us in beautiful harmonies (about 6 times a year)
  • Our Ahavat Torah Band services that blend liturgy with the greatest music of our times—think Beatles Shabbat, Chicago, Simon & Garfunkel, and more (several times a year)
  • Weekly musical leadership from our Cantorial Soloist, Blake Singer, and incredible volunteer musicians

Monthly Community Shabbat Dinner: Once a month, we gather for a full Shabbat dinner that fills our Social Hall with food, laughter, and connection. It's a beautiful way to experience Shabbat as a community.

Community Celebrations: Once a month, we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries together—because your milestones matter to us, and joy is meant to be shared.

Foundations of Jewish Prayer: Once a month, our clergy teach about our prayers during the service instead of a traditional sermon. Perfect for people exploring Judaism, interfaith families, or anyone wanting to dive deeper into the meaning behind the words.

Can't join us in person? Our Friday evening services are livestreamed so you can participate from wherever you are. Just click the "Live Streaming" link at the upper right corner of the screen to join!
