After graduating from High School in 1994, Rabbi Boxt attended the University of Georgia, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology in May, 1999. After UGA, Rabbi Boxt lived and worked in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, Jerusalem, Israel, Baltimore, Maryland, Phoenix, Arizona and Atlanta, Georgia. Rabbi Boxt worked for Hillel and Enterprise Rent-A-Car before he realized one of his dreams and became a substitute and then permanent teacher in public and private schools in Atlanta. During his time in Atlanta, Rabbi Boxt taught in a local religious school program and developed a remarkable junior youth group program.
In the summer of 2008, Rabbi Boxt, along with his wife, Batya and daughter, Carlie, moved to Jerusalem to begin the five year HUC rabbinic student journey. While at HUC, Rabbi Boxt served as student rabbi in the following congregations: Temple Beth Isaac in Trenton, Michigan, Temple Meir Chayim in McGehee, Arkansas, and Congregation Beth Shalom in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. In his final year of rabbinical school, he served as the rabbinic intern at Temple Adath Israel Brith Shalom in Louisville, Kentucky. Rabbi Boxt also served as the Chaplain for the Wyoming City Fire Department while living in Cincinnati.
An avid Braves, Bulldogs and New York Giants fan, Rabbi Boxt could not be any happier at Temple Kol Emeth. The entire Boxt family is extremely excited to be back in Georgia and especially to be at home as a part of the Temple Kol Emeth family!
